Hi, I’m Kristy Magee—a children’s author, former pre-K and special education teacher, mom and proud Nana from Texas. My love for creating stories comes from the children who have filled my life with laughter, imagination and inspiration. Many of my ideas begin with the special personalities, interests and adventures of my own children and grandchildren.

I created A Whale of a Tale to share stories that feel joyful, meaningful and made with love. My mission is to encourage children to dream big, embrace what makes them unique and discover the magic of reading and creativity. I hope my books bring smiles to little faces, create special moments between children and the people who love them and become stories families enjoy reading again and again.
